Who we are

Kiwamwaku Foundation formally called Kiwamwaku meaning (A group of women striving to fight HIV/AIDS in Mwanga District Area). It was established in 1997 in response to the HIV and AIDS crisis till 2002 when registered as NGO with HIVAIDS as the only theme where it was authorized to work in Mwanga District. The organization aimed to empower the community to take informed action in reducing HIV/AIDS infections through carrying out HIV/AIDS prevention awareness campaigns, home based care, education and economic empowerment programs. On 4th July, 2022 the organization was re-registered as KIWAMWAKU FOUNDATION adding gender, environment and agriculture themes while extending its operations throughout Tanzania Main Land covering 25 regions.

Membership and Governing Structure

The NGO is governed by the board (currently have 05 members, 03 female and 02 males) with the Annual General Assembly (AGM) as final decision maker at the apex of the organogram. The AGM is made up of selected leaders from Kiwamwaku 12 branches who are currently 41 (they pay membership fees, operates on the ground and they are in different areas of Tanzania. Below the board is the executive director, staff and non-staff. The organogram has clearly identified beneficiaries namely orphans, women, young single mothers, youth, children and people with disabilities.

GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE 

KIWAMWAKU FOUNDATION working areas will be 25 regions found in Tanzania mainland. The envisioned beneficiaries are the marginalized groups such as women, Orphans, children, youth, and people with disability and people living with HIV (PLHIV). The organization plans to work with different developmental stakeholders such as local government leaders, community development officers, social welfare, donor from various counties and organizations/institutions such as churches, mosques, universities and BINGOs.
